Bachelors Degree Major in Education
A Bachelors Degree for those called to teach and administrate primarily in Christian educational settings, including private schools, church schools, and home and academy schools.

Designed to prepare graduates to serve specifically Christian learners, the Christian Education concentration addresses issues related to instruction, class conduct, and evaluation. Built on a scriptural foundation, the Christian Education concentration integrates biblical principles of educational excellence with biblical content for instruction.

EDU 2050 Society and Education 3 Credit Hours
Provides a comprehensive history of education in America, including major issues in education, the impact society has on education and education on society, and the role of religion in education. Emphasis is placed on current issues and the Christian educator's responsibilities.

EDU 3051 Child Development & Learning 3 Credit Hours
Study of the human developmental process in early childhood, including physical, cognitive, social, personality, and spiritual development. In-depth study of methods of early childhood and elementary education and ways children learn.

EDU 3052 Adolescent Development & Learning 3 Credit Hours
Study of the human developmental process in adolescence, including physical, cognitive, social, personality, and spiritual development. In-depth study of methods of secondary education and how adolescents learn.

EDU 3120 Curriculum Planning, Documentation & Assessment (PK-6) 3 Credit Hours
Studies the current trends in curriculum development, organizing for instruction, and methods of assessment for Pre-K and Elementary Education.

EDU 3121 Curriculum Planning, Documentation & Assessment (5-12) 3 Credit Hours
Studies the current trends in curriculum development, organizing for instruction, and methods of assessment for Secondary Education.

EDU 3205 Integrating Curriculum & Technology 3 Credit Hours
Explores the use of all forms of technology in classroom instruction, from children's toys to computer programs.

EDU 3368 Techniques of Classroom Management & Discipline (PK-6) 3 Credit Hours
Overview of traditional and nontraditional methods of classroom management. In-depth study of Christian truths as applied to management and discipline in childhood. Students will develop a written classroom management plan.

EDU 3369 Techniques of Classroom Management & Discipline (5-12) 3 Credit Hours
Overview of traditional and nontraditional methods of classroom management. In-depth study of Christian truths as applied to management and discipline in adolescence. Students will develop a written classroom management plan.

EDU 3412 Reading Preparation 3 Credit Hours
Instruction on methods used to teach reading, how children learn to read, incorporation of learning styles, and learning disabilities that affect reading ability.

EDU 3421 Children's Literature 3 Credit Hours
Studies traditional and modern literature for children and integration in the curriculum. Discussion of how literature is used to reinforce Christian values.

EDU 3440 Reading, Writing & Study Skills 3 Credit Hours
Instruction on methods used to build reading and writing skills and reading and writing in content areas. Explore study techniques and learning styles.

EDU 3515 Methods and Materials: Art & Music (PK-6) 3 Credit Hours
Provides an integration of methods and ideas from art and music with emphasis on technique. Explores applications to multimedia, learning styles, and self-expression.

EDU 3516 Methods and Materials: Art & Music (5-12) 3 Credit Hours
Provides an integration of history and ideas from art and music with emphasis on cultural differences. Explores applications to culture, multimedia, learning styles, and self-expression.

Provides an integration of theories and ideas from early math and science education, including the use of fine arts in instruction. Explores applications to teacher strengths, learning styles, academic achievement, and self-esteem.

EDU 3616 Methods and Materials: Math & Science (5-12) 3 Credit Hours
Provides an integration of theories and ideas from secondary math and science education, emphasizing inquiry and experimentation. Explores applications to teacher strengths, learning styles, academic achievement, and self-esteem.

EDU 3715 Methods and Materials: Social Studies & Language Arts (PK-6) 3 Credit Hours
Provides an integration of theories and ideas from early social studies and language arts education with emphasis on social participation. Explores applications to social units, learning styles, and self-expression.

EDU 3716 Methods and Materials: Social Studies & Language Arts (5-12) 3 Credit Hours
Provides an integration of theories and ideas from middle school social studies and language arts education with emphasis on civic participation. Explores applications to culture, government, learning styles, and self-expression.

EDU 3860 Learning Disabilities & Exceptional Children 3 Credit Hours
Discusses characteristics and needs of various types of special needs and gifted children. Emphasizes working with and integrating these children in the regular classroom.

EDU 4831 Practicum & Seminar I 3 Credit Hours
Teaching experience.  Will study topics of concern to teachers, such as classroom organization and management, time management, lesson planning, assessment, and preparation of a teaching portfolio. Emphasis will be on the role of the Christian teacher as spiritual guide.

EDU 4832 Practicum & Seminar II 3 Credit Hours
